Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo took part in the XV National Ordinary Congress of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM) on November 15th. There, she highlighted the unity within the organization and her own vision. The former Chief of Government of Mexico City expressed her endorsement for the involvement of diverse societal sectors leading up to the 2024 elections.
During the gathering, Sheinbaum stressed the significance of worker welfare, as it correlates with national prosperity, earning applause from attendees. Furthermore, they rallied around her shortly before her official registration as a pre-candidate for the presidency.
Sheinbaum also administered the oath to the inaugural Labor Committees of CATEM‘s Fourth Transformation Defense, with plans to establish 10,000 such committees. These bodies aim to ensure dignified livelihoods for workers, requiring collaboration from supportive entrepreneurs, aligned with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s motto, “For the good of all, first the poor.”
Senator Ricardo Monreal, a participant at the congress and former presidential hopeful, aligned with Sheinbaum’s agenda. He echoed her call to foster positive worker relations for enhanced labor rights.
Pedro Haces Barba, Senator and General Secretary of CATEM, underscored the nation’s current pivotal moment and reaffirmed support for Sheinbaum’s continuation of the Fourth Transformation.
The XV National Ordinary Congress of CATEM also saw the presence of Morena’s president, Mario Delgado Carrillo, and various governors, including Mara Ledezma, Marina del Pilar Ávila, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, Miguel Navarro, and Sergio Salomón.
In addition to their involvement in the CATEM congress, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Mario Delgado Carrillo shared on social media their leadership of a meeting with the party’s nine chosen candidates for different federal entities. This inaugural gathering aimed to fortify the Morena movement in readiness for the June 2nd elections.
