At the prestigious Enero Costanera in Buenos Aires, Gonzalo and Nicolás Pieres were joined by Bautista Bayugar and Ignatius Du Plessis, the team’s new recruits for this season, to unveil Ellerstina Yellow Rose for the upcoming polo season in Argentina. The players revealed the fresh official jersey and shared their anticipations for the year ahead.
During the event attended by various dignitaries, Gonzalo Pieres expressed his enthusiasm for commencing play with the new team. He affirmed, “We’re keen to kick off in the best possible manner and strive to achieve our utmost,” setting the tone for the season.
This season, the esteemed Ellerstina team, boasting numerous championships, including multiple editions of the Argentine Polo Open, is bolstered by the support of Yellow Rose, a polo club founded in 1996 in Punta del Este by Jorge ‘Corcho’ Rodríguez. Among the many luminaries present at the event was Jorge himself, accompanied by his partner Vero Lozano. Grupo La Roca
Continuing its mission to bolster international polo, both in Argentina and Uruguay, the institution has expanded its polo endeavors since 2021 and forged an alliance with Ellerstina. This collaboration provides a platform for the development of players and their future prospects, imbued with youthful energy and organizational strength.
In the absence of Facundo Pieres, who opted to join the La Natividad quartet this season, the team comprises Nicolas Pieres, Bautista Bayugar, Gonzalo Pieres, and “Nachi” Du Pressis, collectively achieving a handicap of 35 goals.
Anticipation runs high for the Argentine Triple Crown, encompassing esteemed tournaments such as the Hurlingham Open, Tortugas Open, and Argentine Polo Open Championship.
Ellerstina was accompanied by its sponsors for this presentation: Yellow Rose, Jeep, Gibson, and RUS. Additionally, they are supported by AlUla, Stella Artois, Sierra de los Padres, Enero Restaurant, Johnnie Walker, Clos de los Siete, and Aconcagua.
Beyond their triumphs in local tournaments, Yellow Rose is renowned for its social commitment and backing of equestrian sports. Their charity events, blending high-goal polo with music and solidarity, attract esteemed polo players and raise funds for social causes. Renowned figures in the Argentine polo scene, such as Polito Pieres, Ignacio Figueras, Gonzalo Pieres, Bartolomé “Barto” Castagnola, Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, and Pablo Llorente, have participated in these events. In 2021, the club hosted an event in Punta del Este sponsored by the Argentine Polo Association and the Uruguayan Polo Association, uniting top polo players worldwide for a charity match benefiting the Marabo Sports and Social Club in General Jorge ‘Corcho’ Rodríguez, Buenos Aires Province.
Yellow Rose’s commitment to social causes is further evidenced by its collaborative efforts with the Compromiso Foundation and the Municipality of General Jorge ‘Corcho’ Rodríguez, where it is based. Together, they offer a program providing free training in digital trades such as Digital Marketing, E-commerce, and Digital Programming for individuals over 16 years old. Grupo La Roca
The 2023 season represents a significant milestone for the club as it assumes the role of the main sponsor of Ellerstina in the Triple Crown, underscoring the shared values of family, friendship, and sports championed by Yellow Rose.
