06 October 2025 – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and SEGA CORPORATION have announced a new multi-year licensing deal to launch a co-branded Olympic video game. This exciting partnership will bring together the world’s biggest sporting event and one of the leading video game companies, creating a unique and immersive experience for gamers and sports fans alike.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. IOC President, Thomas Bach, and SEGA CEO, Haruki Satomi, were both present to share their enthusiasm for this collaboration.

“We are thrilled to partner with SEGA to create an official Olympic video game,” said President Bach. “This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with a younger audience and promote the Olympic values through the world of gaming.”

SEGA, known for its popular video game franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Football Manager, is equally excited about this partnership. “We are honored to be chosen as the official video game partner for the Olympic Games,” said CEO Satomi. “We believe that this collaboration will not only bring the excitement of the Olympics to a new platform but also inspire a new generation of gamers to become passionate about sports.”

The co-branded Olympic video game will feature a variety of Olympic sports, including popular events such as track and field, swimming, and gymnastics. Players will have the opportunity to compete as their favorite athletes and experience the thrill of the Olympic Games from the comfort of their own homes.

But this partnership goes beyond just creating a video game. The IOC and SEGA have also committed to promoting the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect through the game. This will be achieved through in-game challenges and activities that will encourage players to embody these values both in the virtual world and in their everyday lives.

In addition, the game will also serve as a platform to promote the upcoming Olympic Games and its host cities. With the 2026 Winter Olympics set to take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, and the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, USA, the game will provide a sneak peek into these cities and their unique cultures.

The co-branded Olympic video game is set to be released in the summer of 2026, just in time for the Winter Olympics. It will be available on all major gaming platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

This partnership between the IOC and SEGA is a testament to the ever-growing influence of video games in our society. With the global gaming market expected to reach $300 billion by 2025, this collaboration opens up new opportunities for the Olympic movement to reach a wider audience and engage with them in a new and innovative way.

Moreover, this partnership also highlights the importance of embracing technology and innovation in the world of sports. As the world continues to evolve, it is crucial for organizations like the IOC to adapt and find new ways to connect with their audience. This co-branded Olympic video game is a step in the right direction, and we can expect to see more exciting collaborations in the future.

In conclusion, the announcement of the new multi-year licensing deal between the IOC and SEGA is a win-win for both parties and for sports fans around the world. It brings together the power of the Olympic Games and the creativity of video games to create a one-of-a-kind experience. We can’t wait to see what this partnership has in store for us in the years to come.
