With the start of the college football season just around the corner, the Oregon State Beavers are gearing up for an exciting and competitive season. And one of the most intriguing storylines for the team is the quarterback battle between redshirt sophomore Elijah Brown, Oregon State transfer Ben Gulbranson, and Central Florida transfer Dylan Rizk.
All three players have been putting in the work this offseason, each determined to earn the starting quarterback role for the Beavers. With a new coaching staff and a revamped offense, this competition is sure to bring out the best in each player and push them to reach new heights.
Elijah Brown, a local standout from Westview High School, is entering his third year with the Beavers. After redshirting his freshman year, Brown saw limited action last season as a backup. But with a strong arm, good size, and improved footwork, he is now in the running for the starting job.
Ben Gulbranson, who transferred from Oregon State, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table. The 6-foot-3 quarterback spent two seasons with the Beavers, learning the ropes and developing his skills. Now, he is looking to make a name for himself with his new team and make a strong case for the starting role.
Dylan Rizk, a transfer from Central Florida, is also vying for the starting job. The dual-threat quarterback brings a dynamic element to the Beavers’ offense with his ability to both pass and run. Rizk is determined to showcase his talents and prove that he has what it takes to lead the team to victory.
With three talented quarterbacks in the mix, the competition for the starting job is fierce. But instead of creating tension and division, the three players have formed a close bond and are pushing each other to be the best they can be. This healthy competition has not only improved their individual skills, but it has also brought a sense of camaraderie to the team.
Head coach Jonathan Smith has been impressed with the dedication and hard work put in by Brown, Gulbranson, and Rizk. He believes that this competition will ultimately benefit the team and bring out the best in each player.
“It’s a great situation to have. All three quarterbacks are competing at a high level and pushing each other,” said Smith. “This competition is making everyone better and will only make our team stronger.”
The Beavers’ offensive coordinator, Brian Lindgren, also sees the potential in all three quarterbacks. He has been working closely with them, fine-tuning their mechanics and helping them understand the new offensive system.
“I’m excited about all three quarterbacks. They each have unique strengths and bring something different to the table,” said Lindgren. “It’s going to be a tough decision, but I have confidence that whoever earns the starting job will lead us to success.”
As the season approaches, Brown, Gulbranson, and Rizk are focused on improving their game and earning the trust and respect of their coaches and teammates. They know that the starting job is not given, but earned through hard work, dedication, and determination.
Whichever quarterback ultimately earns the starting role, one thing is for sure – the Beavers will be in good hands. With a talented and competitive trio leading the offense, the sky’s the limit for this team. So, fans, get ready to witness an exciting and electrifying quarterback battle this season. Go Beavers!
