Applications are now open for the prestigious NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award, an annual recognition that celebrates the achievements of early-career M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. scientists who have made significant contributions in bridging the gap between social and life sciences.

The award, established by the Swiss-based NOMIS Foundation and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) journal Science, aims to recognize and support young researchers who have demonstrated exceptional promise in their field of study. It also serves as a platform to showcase the importance of interdisciplinary research in addressing complex societal issues.

The NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award is open to individuals who have completed their doctoral degree within the past five years and are currently pursuing a postdoctoral position or have recently started an independent research position. The research must have been conducted within the last three years and must demonstrate a significant connection between the social and life sciences.

The award comes with a cash prize of $150,000 and a one-year AAAS membership, providing the recipients with the necessary resources to continue their groundbreaking work. It also includes the opportunity to publish an article in Science, one of the world’s leading peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Previous recipients of the NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award have gone on to achieve great success in their careers, with many of them receiving other prestigious awards and grants. The award has also helped to raise the profile of these young researchers and their work, providing them with a platform to collaborate with other leading scientists and institutions.

The selection process for the award is rigorous and highly competitive. A panel of renowned scientists and experts from various disciplines is responsible for evaluating the applications and selecting the recipients. The judging criteria include the quality and originality of the research, its impact on society, and the potential for future contributions to the field.

The deadline for applications is [insert date], and interested individuals are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible. The winners will be announced in [insert date], and the award ceremony will take place at the AAAS Annual Meeting in [insert location].

This year’s award theme is “Connecting the Social and Life Sciences for a Better Tomorrow,” reflecting the importance of interdisciplinary research in addressing global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and health disparities. The organizers are particularly interested in research that brings together different perspectives and methodologies from the social and life sciences to tackle these complex issues.

The NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award is a testament to the commitment of the NOMIS Foundation and Science to promote and support interdisciplinary research. It also serves as a reminder of the vital role that young scientists play in advancing our understanding of the world and finding solutions to the most pressing issues of our time.

If you are an early-career scientist with a passion for bridging the gap between the social and life sciences, this is an opportunity not to be missed. Apply now for the NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award and be recognized for your outstanding contributions to interdisciplinary research. Together, let us work towards a better tomorrow for all.
