IV Angola-U.S. Energy Security Dialogue
On June 13, the IV Angola-U.S. Energy Security Dialogue was held at the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum, and Gas in Luanda. This meeting aimed to discuss the support for energy security in Angola, particularly concerning electricity production and access.
The Angolan delegation was led by João Baptista Borges, the Minister of Energy and Water, while the U.S. delegation was directed by Geoffrey Pyatt, the U.S. Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources.
The Energy Security Dialogue (ESD) emphasized topics related to ensuring a reliable and stable energy supply and enhancing commercial relationships in this sector.
The discussions between João Baptista Borges of Angola and Geoffrey Pyatt from the U.S. primarily centered on the secure and stable energy supply, the development of commercial ties between the two nations, and broader energy security issues.
Additional attendees included José Barroso, the Angolan Secretary of State for Petroleum; the Chairmen of the Boards of Directors of PRODEL-EP (Pedro Afonso), RNT-EP (Rui Gourgel), ENDE (Helder Adão), and Sonangol (Sebastião Martins); José Quarta, the Board Representative of IRSEA; and representatives from ANPG.
