Today, June 7, 2024, in the province of Huíla, specifically in the city of Lubango, the ceremony for the delivery of the certificate for the demined area along the 400 kV Huambo – Lubango electricity transmission line took place.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges; the Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants, and Veterans of the Homeland, João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade; the Secretary of State for Energy, Arlindo Carlos; the Vice-Governor of Huíla and also of Huambo; the representative of the African Development Bank for Angola and São Tomé; as well as various officials from both ministries and invited guests.
After the certificate was handed over, Minister João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade expressed his gratitude for the dedication of the Ministry of Energy and Water, which culminated in this event, highlighting the importance of the ceremony. Minister João Baptista Borges, in turn, expressed his appreciation for the commitment of Minister João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade, which was essential for the success of the ceremony, also emphasizing the importance of demining for the implementation of the project.
The Minister mentioned that the main goal is to increase energy capacity to meet the region’s needs. He praised the work done in the demining effort, which plays a crucial role in the success of various electrification projects in the country. Furthermore, the Minister highlighted that the project for the line between Huambo and Lubango will create many jobs for young people, which he considers very significant.
During the event, there was also a symbolic handover of a vehicle to the demining team on site.
It is important to mention that the construction of the 400 kV Huambo-Lubango Electricity Transmission Line will consist of two lots, totaling a length of 343 km.
