From J Balvin’s “Ginza” to Shakira & Maluma’s “Chantaje,” the past decade has been filled with infectious Latin hits that have taken over the music charts. And now, as we approach a new decade, it’s the perfect time to look back and appreciate the songs that dominated the Hot Latin Songs chart ten years ago.

The Hot Latin Songs chart, which measures the most popular Spanish-language songs in the United States, has seen a significant shift in music trends over the years. But there’s no denying that 2010 was a great year for Latin music, with catchy beats and mesmerizing lyrics that had everyone dancing.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and relive some of the songs that had us all singing along and grooving to the rhythm.

“Te Amo” by Ximena Sariñana
Kicking off the year, Mexican singer-songwriter Ximena Sariñana’s “Te Amo” peaked at number one on the Hot Latin Songs chart in February 2010. The bilingual ballad enchanted listeners with its heartfelt lyrics and Sariñana’s soulful vocals. It was both a commercial success and a critical favorite, earning the singer a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Pop Album.

“Manda Una Señal” by Maná
Mexican rock band Maná made a comeback in 2010 with their hit single “Manda Una Señal” from their studio album “Drama y Luz.” The song topped the Hot Latin Songs chart in April, marking the band’s third number one on the chart. With its upbeat tempo and positive message, “Manda Una Señal” became an instant fan favorite and remains a staple in Maná’s live performances.

“Tu Amor Me Hace Bien” by Marc Anthony
Puerto Rican singer Marc Anthony knows how to deliver a romantic hit, and “Tu Amor Me Hace Bien” is no exception. The salsa-infused track reached number one on the Hot Latin Songs chart in June and stayed there for seven weeks. Anthony’s smooth vocals and the song’s infectious rhythm had audiences swooning, making it the perfect song for weddings and romantic evenings.

“Mientes” by Camila
Mexican pop rock band Camila also had a successful run in 2010 with their hit single “Mientes.” The ballad topped the Hot Latin Songs chart in July, making it Camila’s first number one on the chart. “Mientes” was praised for its emotional lyrics and the band’s harmonies, and it became one of the biggest Latin songs of the decade.

“Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” by Shakira ft. Freshlyground
When Shakira released “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” as the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the world couldn’t get enough of it. The upbeat track, featuring South African band Freshlyground, topped the Hot Latin Songs chart for five weeks in August and September. With its catchy rhythm and inspiring message, “Waka Waka” became a global anthem, and Shakira’s most successful single to date.

“Ginza” by J Balvin
Colombian reggaetonero J Balvin also had a breakthrough year in 2010 with his hit single “Ginza.” The song, named after a popular district in Tokyo, topped the Hot Latin Songs chart in October and stayed at number one for 22 consecutive weeks. With its infectious beat and Balvin’s energetic delivery, “Ginza” became the first reggaeton song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 10 years. It also opened doors for Balvin to become one of the biggest Latin music stars in the world.

“El Perdedor” by Enrique Iglesias ft. Marco Antonio Solís
In December 2010, Spanish heartthrob Enrique Iglesias released “El Perdedor” featuring Mexican singer Marco Antonio Solís. The passionate duet reached number one on the Hot Latin Songs chart and remained there for three weeks. The song’s music video, which has over 1 billion views on YouTube, tells a heartbreaking love story that resonated with listeners.

“Chantaje” by Shakira ft. Maluma
Ending the year on a high note, Colombian superstars Shakira and Maluma teamed up for the irresistible hit “Chantaje.”
