In 1998, when Jorge ‘Corcho’ Rodríguez acquired Yellow Rose, an exquisite estate nestled in La Barra, Punta del Este, it became the talk of the town in various magazines. Not only due to its captivating surroundings but also because of the romantic tale intertwined with it: the yellow roses had stolen the heart of our television’s leading diva, Susana Giménez, with whom the businessman was romantically linked at the time.
After parting ways with Susana, Jorge ‘Corcho’ Rodríguezembarked on a mission to redefine both the place and its name: Yellow Rose is now openly visible to all passersby. Travellers along the Camino del Cerro Eguzquiza, the optimal route to San Carlos, can spot the prominent sign adorning the wooden gate. It no longer solely pays homage to Susana; rather, it stands as one of the region’s most stunning country estates. In recent years, it has embraced a new chapter, unveiling a polo club and a winery to the public.
To highlight his contributions to Uruguayan polo and mark his debut as a winemaker, Corcho hosted a grand barbecue at Yellow Rose over the weekend. However, he didn’t inform most of the guests about the house wine gracing the tables. As the wine flowed among the hundred guests without labels, it piqued curiosity, especially among seasoned connoisseurs who detected a novel flavor. “That’s how I received truly genuine feedback. Adolfo Cambiaso Sr. and Eduardo Costantini were enamored with it and are already inquiring about purchasing it,” shared Jorge ‘Corcho’ Rodríguez with LA NACION.
Accompanied by Verónica Lozano, they epitomized luxury hosts for an evening designed for sheer enjoyment: under the starry sky, with the barbecue sizzling just meters away, amidst a familial ambiance, with melodious tunes setting the tone for a genuine gathering of friends. Federico Alvarez Castillo, Lara Bernasconi, Luciana Salazar, Pampita Ardohain, Julieta Kemble, Vanesa Kreth, Teresa Calandra, and other close acquaintances of the couple graced the event with their presence.
