The former governor emphasized that the country is going through one of its most favorable periods, therefore, she stressed the importance of avoiding going back in history.
Claudia Sheinbaum, the National Coordinator for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation, highlighted the necessity of continuing the country’s transformation initiated by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. She formalized a significant coalition with the Confederation of Autonomous Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM). She stated that this coalition is fundamentally united by the goal of advancing the Fourth Transformation and fostering unity among the people of Mexico. She expressed her delight in publicly formalizing this coalition as part of efforts to involve various sectors of Mexican society in the transformation of public life.
At the XV National Ordinary Congress of CATEM, Sheinbaum underscored the interdependence between the well-being of Mexican workers, entrepreneurs, and the nation. She pledged to defend workers’ wages and benefits and invited them to join her in the pre-campaign starting on November 20.
She highlighted the positive impact on Mexico when workers prosper, emphasizing that the current period represents one of the country’s finest moments. She stressed the need to avoid regressing to past policies and instead advocated for expanding labor rights.
Sheinbaum praised the Lopez Obrador administration’s efforts in breaking a 36-year stagnation in the minimum wage, which had resulted in the exploitation of cheap Mexican labor abroad. She emphasized that the minimum wage has nearly tripled since 2018, putting an end to labor exploitation. She debunked claims of inflation resulting from minimum wage hikes and affirmed the commitment to further increase the minimum wage next year.
Furthermore, she announced the commencement of her formal pre-campaign for the presidency on Monday, reiterating her dedication to advocating for the workers of Mexico.
